Barometric Prognosticator III A steampunk barometer which displays temperature, humidity and pressure, calculates a forecast and plays a tune each hour based on historical weather readings. Climatic Revelator A steampunk weather forecasting machine. Communicating the forecast is achieved visually through the illumination of one of five vignettes stored within a rotating pentagonal carousel. The forecast is broadcast audibly through a rising or falling tune played on five chimes. Gregorian Scribulator Each morning, the Scribulator erases the previous day’s information and uses a complex system of gears, mechanical components and a magnetic stylus to write the current day, date and month on the rotating display panel in old fashioned script. Chronological Engine A steampunk clock providing several valuable timing functions and automatic fading illumination. Hourly counted or passing chimes can be selected along with a daily alarm function and kitchen timer. The Engine can also power and control the Revelator and Scribulator. Chronograph Having got carried away with over complicating my other designs, I really wanted to keep things relatively simple and come up with a lower budget steampunk creation. The Chronograph is mounted on an engraved wooden plaque. Minutes are displayed on one dial, whilst gears drive the hour display. The moving pendulum is reminiscent of early clock designs that featured mercury temperature compensation. Barometric Prognosticator II A steampunk barometer for a boating enthusiast. Inside and outside temperatures are displayed with moving hand pointers, pressure changes are played as a tune and the weather forecast is indicated by a mechanically changing scene. Barometric Prognosticator I A steampunk weather station designed for a school corridor. One of five weather scenes produced by students slides into view to indicate the weather forecast. Students can also record and listen to 16 speech recordings.
Luminescent Epizoescope The Luminescent Epizoescope employs limelight, the latest optical technology and steam powered mechanisms to display moving pictures. Sound to accompany the pictures is also reproduced. Basically a steampunk digital (what ever that is) photo frame. If you are a steampunk aficionado and love the look of Victorian engineering, this kit is for you! Having designed and made so many steampunk machines, I reflected on the joy I get from building them - why not have a kit, so others could share the enjoyment? No worries about design, no concerns about sourcing parts, just the joy of having all the bits needed whilst following instructions to construct something amazing. Hence the Nempnett Thrubwell Kitchen Timer Kit. As a result you too can build a working steampunk machine from the ground up! I’ve included everything from wood polish and an air pump to brass fittings and an air horn to enable you to build your own working mechanical steampunk Nempnett Thrubwell kitchen timer. The Nempnett Thrubwell Kitchen Timer Kit The Heraldic Clarion A first class steampunk door horn The Heraldic Clarion is designed to bring joy to those in possession of a front door. Particularly those with an appreciation of Victorian engineering. A visitor’s finger alighting upon the relevant door furniture (doorbell push), will reliably cause the Heraldic Clarion to sound it’s trumpet. This notifies those within the dwelling that a visitor stands waiting on the threshold. The Is It Time For Tea? Machine? At last there is a machine that will concisely and consistently inform you whether it is, or is not, time for tea. Upon raising the porcelain control handle, Florence the automaton illuminates. Her complex control machine begins to operate, raising her head and opening her eyes. You are politely greeted and asked to wait whilst she consults her gauges. Following the consultation, Florence makes her decision based upon a complex series of calculations, and informs you of her decision. The steampunk Motorised gauge kit Finally all steampunk inventors and designers can include a moving gauge in their creations! The kit, (which is also available ready assembled) contains all the required parts, you just need to decide on its decoration. It either comes with a two AA battery holder, or a connector which allows it to run off any voltage up to 12 volts. Chronograph Kit After many requests for another steampunk kit, I decided to produce the Chronograph as a kit. The kit contains the 112 parts required to construct your Chronograph along with the plaque that displays your individually engraved Chronograph number. Now you just have to choose the paint you wish to use! A Wonderful Project: a Steampunk Truck Cab! What a joy. Erin, a truck driver in the USA and a lover of steampunk, asked me to make a recycled bag holder for her cab. She then required a cup illuminator, a switch panel and a steampunk time zone clock… how fabulous! The Reciprocating Chronometer Kit If you love the look of steampunk machines reminiscent of Victorian engineering, I’m pleased to present the Reciprocating Chronometer Kit (also available fully assembled). Why have a clock that goes all the way round a dial, when you can build one from a kit that doesn’t! The Reciprocating Chronometer employs a plethora of intriguing mechanisms to display the time on a laser engraved legend. Every 12 hours, the hand returns to ‘1’ and the AM/PM indicator moves to the next reading visible through a lens. The Ukulele Playing Machine Victoria the singing automaton, singing ‘When I’m Cleaning Windows’, accompanied by the ukulele playing machine. It’s taken years to complete, but seemed like a good idea at the time!
Arduino controlled clock kit
It was so exciting to have been approached by someone who wanted to build their own Arduino controlled clock using two 28BYJ-48 stepper motors;  I’ve made a series of tutorial videos on YouTube. The response was amazing and viewers requested a link to download the Arduino sketch I wrote for the tutorial - it’s available by clicking the button below.
